America is famously known for the Statue of Liberty, The Cheese Burger, Disney World, friendly people and of course American football’s Super Bowl. Being one of the most watched sports in the country, the super bowl had an estimated 111 million people watch the Green Bay Packers outlast the Pittsburgh Steelers in professional football’s 2011 game last year.

With over 111 million viewers, companies snap up the chance to be able to advertise between the event, competing for the trophy for being the most outrageous and engaging advert! and this year’s picks are no different, with our favourite car brands including Audi, VW and Chevrolet showing what they are made of!

Volkswagen also do not fail to disappoint, all Star wars fan animal fans will especially love this ‘Bark Side’ star dogs theme tune, made with barking dogs, who are brilliantly dressed up as star wars characters! This video has already seen over 10 million views on YouTube alone.

Audi’s Vampire ‘they’re toast’ advert appeals to the Twilight/vampire diaries fans showing how powerful Audi’s LED lights really are, very funny and appealing with two million views on YouTube.

Sixt Ice-skating at Munich Airport!

Tis the season to be jolly at the Franz-Josef Strauss Munich Airport, where in-between terminals 1 and two, a miniature Christmas market has been created complete with Sixt’s own Ice-skating rink!

Travellers can stroll on the winter market and try some roasted almonds, gingerbread and mulled wine at a total of 50 market stands. There are also a few stands to buy some lovely authentic gifts for your loved ones. The Market also hosts over 300 Christmas trees and daily live bands to give the winter market here a unique flair and brilliant atmosphere to even make any srooge’s feel ‘Christmassy!’ If you are passing through the Airport this Christmas, don’t forget to have a look at the wonderful market, and a free Skate around the rink courtesy of Sixt!

Going back to the Future with the all new electric DeLorean!

The revived motor company has announced an all-electric version of the classic ‘time machine’ car will be put back into production by the now Texas-based motor company and first cars should be on the road by 2013.

The original Ireland based company, run by John DeLorean manufactured the ‘DeLorean’ for the American market in 181-1982. This was the only model produced by them and only 9,000 models were actually manufactured and it is believed that there are around 6,500 cars left in the world today.

In 1995 an entrepreneur Stephen Wynne started a separate company using the ‘DeLorean Motor Company’ name creating remanufactured DeLoreans from original new stock. Interest has already lining up the reserved vehicles and it is believed that these new all-electric versions are going to cost around $90,000-$10,000. It is believed there are plans to manufacture around 350 – 400 electric DeLoreans, based on the company’s current inventory of parts. The electric vehicle will be equipped with a 200 HP Motor, go 0-60mph in 8 seconds and can drive 100 miles between charges. These vehicles also hold a few other enhancements including an iPod dock, Satellite navigation, and Bluetooth technology.

Although I do wonder whether these vehicles will have space for a hoverboard and a flux capacitor? It seems all back to the future replicas are very popular, so much so Nike have recently made the futuristic Hihg-top trainers that Marty Mcfly wore in part II of the Back to the future trilogy. There are even sites online that produce replica hoverboards!

During the reign of the Tudors, Shakespeare wrote his infamous plays which were performed at the infamous Globe theatre and today you can visit a reconstruction of the building on the London Thames bank and see performances of his famous plays. It was also known for King Henry the VIII, the King with six wives. This was an era when cooking was used to show wealth and status, and a time of change when more exotic foods were imported from overseas. Food was used for visual effects, when tudor food was prepared for nobility and royalty, large banquets and feasts were preapred. Exotic birds such as peacocks were reared for their feathers to decorate cooked food and a lot of different meats were on the menu, If you would like a chance to experience Tudor cooking first hand, Live Tudor cookery takes place in the Royal kitchens at Hampton Court Palace. Viewing is free once entering the palace, and you also get the chance to try main dishes and Desserts at lunch time, the food is amazing and great to experience the sights, sounds and tastes of history!

London opens Westfield Stratford, the Largest shopping mall in Europe

Westfield is located very close to the Olympic stadium

Planning ahead for upcoming 2012 Olympics, Westfield Stratford City shopping centre, the quite extraordinarily large, 1.9 million square feet, the biggest urban shopping centre in Europe, opened last week on the edge of the Olympic site, situated in east London.

The shopping centre is proud to state it produces 10,000 jobs and is the gateway to the Olympic site, a place for tourists to go in between games. It seems already a hit with the locals, experiencing 200,000 shoppers in the first week, spending over £20 million. In fact, so many visitors tried to get in at the 3pm opening, many had to queue for hours as the building became over copacity.

Westfield holds over 220 stores, from high street brands such as Topshop and Miss Selfridge to boutiques, Make up stores, home furnishing and fashion labels such as Tommy Hilfiger and Hugo Boss. There is also over 23 Restaurants, 14 Cafes and plenty of fast food eateries for you to choose from. If you fancy some light entertainment, Vue in Westfield holds London’s largest all digital 17 screen cinema and a large 10 pin bowling alley. Brilliant for a day out, I know I will definately be paying a visit very soon!

The world’s cheapest car turned into the most expensive at £3 million

The Indian car manufacturing company Tata is usually best known for selling its flag-ship vehicle the Nano, the cheapest car in the world at 100,000 rupees which is equivalent to £1,300. With a top speed of 65mph and air conditioning, airbags and a radio as optional extra, it really is the most basic car in today’s market, and half the price of its nearest competitor, China’s QQ3Y Cherry at £2,550.

Tata has decided to turn its budget vehicle into a millionaires car, decorating the vehicle with 80kg of Gold and 15Kg of Silver as well as thousands of Gemstones. The vehicle is currently on Display at the Tata owned Jewellery store in Mumbai, Hometown of the Tata brand, which now also owns several businesses including English companies Jaguar and Land rover as well as Tetley Tea.

As you can see there was no holding the 30 artists back to make this car stand out from the crowd!

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival

The Edinburgh Fringe 2011 also known as the hub of European cultural arts came to a close this weekend after a month long array of shows and performances from entertainers and comics across the globe. The festival has seen a whopping 2 million ticket sales over the month’s festivities and 41,000 performances! Making it the busiest and most exciting year to date!

Set in the idyllic Scottish capital city through the middle of the (British) summer, the Fringe offers a limitless choice of acts, performances and things to see. Whether it is going to watch the infamous Cirque Du Soleil perform, or a comedy set by an unknown comedian, no matter how big or small the act there is something for everybody of all ages to enjoy.
Cabarets, Musicals, Children’s shows, Exhibitions and comedy sets are to name a few of the entertainment on offer. Established in 1947, several theatre groups staged performances at the Edinburgh international festival, although not part of the official programme, these performers continued the shows through the years and in 1959 the festival fringe society was created. Edinburgh Fringe also prides itself on letting any venue wanting to hold a performance by including them into the programme.

In recent years there has been more on an emphasis on the comedy side of the Fringe, with many well known comedians including Jimmy Carr, Michael Macintyre and John Bishop. But you don’t have to spend a lot of money at the fringe to have a good time, ticket sales for free events has rise by 40% in the last year, and for many aspiring comedians and actors, their gigs are usually free, all hopeful they will be spotted, ad most of all entertain the audiences interested in seeing something new.
