Spy photos of the BMW i3

The BMW 3 i was spied during a test session. These spy photos show a vehicle in the sub-brand i almost in its standard configuration, which was presented as the Megacity concept during the Frankfurt show the last year.

To date, these pictures are more explicit about the future look of the car. It shows for example the false LED lights from the back and side skirts for the aerodynamically sculpted front and rear tires.

The range “i”, launched under the nickname “Born Electric” was designed using the architectural philosophy of BMW “Live and Drive”, which separates the interior of the transmission. The center console was removed to maximize space usage.

The vehicle will be equipped with a 168 horsepower electric motor , mounted at the rear, which will reach 100 km / h in under 8 seconds, but 65 km / h in under 4 seconds, thanks to the couple immediately provided by the electric vehicle . 6 hours will be needed to fully recharge the vehicle, which will then have a range of 225 km. This range was made possible through the intelligent use of structural aluminum and carbon fiber / plastic. Its weight is lower than its rival, the Golf (1250 kg).

BMW hopes to sell 30,000 i3 within 12 months of its marketing in 2013. The price should start around € 35 000, not including any tax incentives possible.

Sixt announces new Manchester branch

New rental desk at Stansted Airport

Readers of the Sixt blog will remember that back in January we announced that new rental locations would be opening at Stansted and Edinburgh Airports. We can now announce that the brand new office within the arrivals terminal at Stansted Airport will open next week as part of our continued expansion across the UK.

As current renters will be aware, Sixt have operated from a rental centre outside of the main terminal building at Stansted Airport for many years. The new office will open for the first time on the 1st of March offering the typical Sixt fleet of high quality rental vehicles. At Sixt, we are renowned for offering top of the range cars in all groups, something which sets us aside from our competitors, this includes the fantastic VW Polo Bluemotion which is exempt from the London Congestion Charge. Stansted is one of the UK’s most important travel hubs with over 20 million passengers passing through every year. The new branch within the arrivals hall, will ensure a Sixt representative is immediately available allowing our customers to pick-up their vehicle without any delays. As of 1 March we will also be extending the opening hours of the branch to 06.00 – 23.00, 7 days a week.

We are extremely excited about the opening of the new location and it shows the commitment that the company has to improving both the rental facilities and the service that we offer to our customers. Free Trial for the Samsung Galaxy Tab

Samsung’s latest product, the Galaxy Tab, is currently touted as the latest iPad rival to be released out into the tablet-PC market and starting next week visitors to London will have the opportunity to give them a 48-hour trial. A press release has been distributed to several tech blogs explaining the trial and how to apply and I’ve included the details from Samsung’s press release below.

From Monday 18th October 2010, a limited number of Galaxy Tabs will be available for loan over a two-week period from one of four London tube stations: Liverpool Street, Balham, Highbury & Islington or Ealing Broadway. Each device will be lent for 48 hours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week. People wanting to get involved, should apply by sending an email to galaxytab@tubetest.co.uk or speak to a member of the Galaxy Tab team outside one of the four tube stations.

The Galaxy Tab features a 7″ touchscreen running on the latest version of Google’s Android platform and is hoping to try and steal some of the iPad’s thunder by providing a richer web experience, thanks to it’s ability to run Flash, as well as coming in at a cheaper retail price. Although not quite as huge as Apple’s tablet, it does make the Galaxy Tab a more portable option for those not quite prepared to carry a specific case around just for their tablet PC.

Branch History

The Sixt branch at Stansted Airport first opened in 1990 and was part of the original Sixt network. Originally located in Harlow the branch was relocated to Stansted in 1998.

Our Stansted Airport branch is a typical busy airport location servicing both business and leisure travellers. The branch is managed by Vasantha Ratnayake who has a wealth of experience in the rental industry having previously managed the busiest Sixt location at Heathrow Airport.

We are pleased to announce that our new rental location in Cardiff Bay opened yesterday. The new branch will offer a large fleet of high quality cars and vans from the worlds leading manufacturers all available to hire on a long and short term basis.

Croydon Branch History

Sixt Croydon opened in March 2008 as part of our continual development to the Sixt London car and van hire branch network. The branch was opened within the Q Park car park offering amble parking space for the wide range of fleet that is available for short and long term rental.
