Day one is officially over at the 2011 World Travel Market, This year has seen over 47,000 industry participants, 5,053 exhibiting companies with 183 countries and regions being represented by 16,379 exhibiting personnel at the prestigious show! Here are a few photos from Day one!

Sixt at the World Travel Market 2011

Sixt will be again Exhibiting at the annual World Travel Market 7-10 November 2011. Known for being the leading global event for the travel industry, Sixt will be showcasing our pride and expertise in the car rental market.

Running for over 30 years, the World travel market runs over 4 days and is a business to business event presenting a diverse range of desitnations and travel industry services and providers to UK an international travel professionals

We will be happy to speak with you about opportunities for 2012. Our UK Internet Marketing team will be on hand to discuss online business, and we’re particularly interested in speaking to bloggers, travel content websites, activity websites and expat social communities. Our stand is GV365.

Representatives from Sixt Germany, Greece, France, Malta, Romania, Hungry, Italy, Denmark, Ireland, Croatia, Portugal, Serbia, Norway, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Bosnia, Turkey and Israel will also be available should you wish to discuss new and existing business.

Sixt Win Best Stand Personnel Award At WTM 2010

We are only partly into the third day of the 2010 World Travel Market and it has already been a great year at the show for Sixt.

Having won a number of travel related awards over the past few weeks, we were delighted to be informed yesterday that we have won the award for best stand personnel.

There are a number of exhibitor awards given out each year and on the first day of the show, a panel of judges walk around the exhibition and grade the stands based on various criteria. Other awards up for grabs this year included best stand design, best feature and best stand for doing business on.

As a company who pride ourselves on excellent customer interaction, it was especially gratifying to win the personnel award and, having worked on the stand myself, I can testify that it was well earned and the whole team are doing a fantastic job!

The criteria upon which this particular award is based are as follows:

■ Cohesion in approach from all team members

■ Attentive and enthusiastic staff

■ Good knowledge of product/services being promoted

■ Good face-to-face contact with visitors

■ Encouragement onto the stand, with staff engaging with passing traffic

■ Polite and well-presented staff

Well done team Sixt! We know that you will carry these high standards right through to the end of the show.

World Travel Market final day

The final day of the World Travel Market is now upon us and we’re looking forward to wrapping up some final discussions. If you’re attending the show today and want to discuss car hire in any of the 99 countries that we cover head over to our stand located in the Germany area (EM2010).

We have already discussed some exciting opportunities for 2010 during the week and we’re looking forward to that continuing today. Our internet team will be around until mid afternoon to discuss SEO, blogging, social media and online partnerships so feel free to come and discuss any of these areas with us.

World Travel Market continued…

So another day at the World Travel Market is over and like yesterday we’ve had another really good day on the Sixt stand. We’ve met some great people and been shown some interesting new products and ideas.

One area that we are really interested in discussing at this years WTM is blogging and other forms of social media. As you are reading this blog you probably already know how important blogs are becoming online, and as we look to grow sixtblog.co.uk we are on the look out for interesting new content.

So if you have something interesting that you’d like to share with the world feel free to drop by the Sixt stand and share your ideas with us – we’re located in the German area (EM2010).

World Travel Market Day 2 – Seminars

As always there are some very useful seminars taking place at this years World Travel Market. Today there are three interesting looking online and mobile seminars that caught my eye.

11:00-12:00 Online and Onsale – North Gallery Rooms 4 & 5

Lead by Paul Richer of The Travel Technology Consultancy this seminar will look at the key differences between having an online presence and actually having a website that works and brings results for your company.

12:30-13:30 Content Matters – North Gallery Rooms 4 & 5

Another seminar organised by The Travel Technology Consultancy this time looking at the value of having good content on your website to engage your customers.

15:30-16:30 Mobile Technology in Travel: Strategies & Tools for Consumer Engagement – North Gallery Room 13

Hosted by EyeforTravel, this session is an informative workshop outlining the latest research into how mobile technology is effecting the travel market.

All of the above session look interesting and I’m hoping to get to at least a couple of them. There are also plenty of other seminars and workshops taking place throughout the day. See the full list here.

30th World Travel Market kicks off

The World Travel Market kicked off this morning celebrating its 30th year as one of the world’s leading industry shows.

At the Sixt stand we had a great day and it was nice to meet and discuss opportunities with some exciting new prospects and existing customers and partners.

We also managed to take a look around some of the other stands and we had some useful chats with representatives From the Visit Britain and Visit England stands. Hopefully over the next few days we’ll get around the whole show and be able to take some nice photos ready to post when we return.

As part of the 30th Anniversary celebrations there are some special events planned throughout the remaining 3 days including a party on Wednesday with a live show from stars of some of the West End’s leading musicals such as Mamma Mia, Chicago and Jersey Boys.

First Day Of World Travel Market – Part 1

So the 2009 World Travel Market is finally here (well in a few hours anyway..) and as it is the first time I have attended I am really looking forward to the next four days.

In addition to my primary role at Sixt of Search Engine Optimisation, a large part of my time is dedicated to working on the blog, both from a technical and content perspective and one of the things that I am particularly looking forward to over the next few days is trying to meet up with other bloggers, particularly those in the travel space.

Our primary aim for the Sixt blog is to provide genuinely useful and interesting information for our readers and I firmly believe that the best way to do this is to provide content from a wide variety of sources and to ensure that we have a mixed and varied range of voices speaking from different perspectives.

In order to succeed with achieving our aims, it is also essential that we support and contribute to other blogs and in addition to hopefully finding some great contributors for our blog, we are also looking for opportunities where we can contribute to others so if you have any thoughts about ways in which we might be able to help, then let us know!
