Prettiest Ferrari ever made fetches £4million at supercar auction!

A very Rare vintage Ferrari has now become one of the most valuable car in the world sold at auction for an incredible £4 million!

The vehicle, which was sold at auctions at the RM auctions event in Monaco, sold over £26 million pounds worth of cars, with 10 heading in at over 800,000 each alone.

The 1957 Ferrari 625 TRC Spider stole the show topping all auctions, named by the auctions as the ‘prettiest ever made’, which stole the show after a bidding frenzy broke out among the wealthy investors.

The car was originally estimated to receive around £2.4 million, which is a common figure with many other classic Ferraris, but instead, it almost doubled selling at a staggering £4 million!

The 625 TRC Spider was only one of two of these vehicles that was ever built. The original racer was fitted with a modest 2.5 litre engine, but after a full restoration, was fitted with a 3 litre V12 engine.

It was first owned by an American racing driver but it had been in the same hands for the past 30-years before it went under the hammer in Monaco. five more Ferraris topped over 800,000 at the auction.

Two models – a 1966 Ferrari 206 S Dino Spyder and 1952 Ferrari 225 Sport Spyder ‘Tuboscocca’ – sold for £2million each. Max Girardo, managing director, RM Europe, said: ‘Monaco 2012 has been a fantastic success.

‘It was restored in the 1980s and the market has demonstrated that if you get the right car its value will only go in one direction.’

100 years after our beginning , Sixt will again be an exclusive rental partner of the world-renowned Italian vintage car rally “Mille Miglia”. We have once again selected car manufacturer BMW as our cooperation partner for the event. “Mille Miglia” traditionally follows an ancient route stretching over more than 1,600 kilometres from Brescia to Rome and back. This year, it will be held from 16 to 20 May 2012.

Sixt will lend a hand to the vintage car race for the fifth time this year, providing it with a comprehensive range of services. In celebration of the company’s 100th anniversary, Sixt will prepare a few special surprises for participants and spectators along the route. In addition, Sixt will provide race participants, passengers and the media with safe and comfortable transport to the route and back to their hotels in its up-to-date Sixt fleet. The firm’s service cars will also accompany race participants along the way. Meanwhile, Sixt’s hostesses are looking forward to greeting the race’s knowledgeable fans in Sixt guest tents located in Brescia and Rome.

Sixt will be part of the race itself once more with its vintage fleet. The firm’s six classic 1950s cars are set to add to the nostalgia-fest on offer. These include two Mercedes 300 featuring gull-wing doors, a Jaguar XK 120, a Porsche Speedster, a VW Standard and a Ferrari 250 GT Coupé. And Erich and Regine Sixt will be at the controls of the vintage Mercedes 300 gull-wing models.

Known by creator Marc Witt as ‘The Sea Lion’ the amphibious car took a total 6 years to build bringing the inventor’s dream to life of a high speed vehicle which can also be used on the seas.

The sports car can reach a top speed of 125mph on Land and a very impressive 60mph on the sea! Keeping up with and overtaking many speedboats.

The body of the vehicle is brushed with aluminium and a stainless steel finish, Marc built the car by himself over the top of a 174hp Mazda rotary engine, designing a body which could function as a road-vehicle, yet also be waterproof when hitting the lakes and seas for a spin.

The car is one of over 25 vehicles that is currently competing for the title of fastest amphibious vehicle.

When Marc started building the car in 2006, he aimed had a goal to reach 60mph – beating the water-speed record of 45mph set by an amphibious car at that current time.

That record has now risen to 60mph by a range of cars – although as there is no official body to rule on the faster, many vehicles are just claiming the title.

Still, Marc believes that if the next owner upgrade his engine, they would be able to reach even greater speeds and land the record themselves – and it is unlikely anyone will top his land-speed record for an amphibian car of 125mph.

Indeed, with an engine switch, the car is built out so that it can take speeds around 180mph on the road.

Marc said: ‘Building Sea Lion has been an enjoyable exploration. I have provided the basic architecture for the car and resolved every conflicting interaction between Car and Boat.

Google receives green light for self driven car in Nevada

Until a few years ago it was a myth. Now the search engine giant Google has just received the first license for the test of self-steering vehicles on the roads of the State of Nevada has received. So the first tests of a completely artificially controlled cars in real traffic are possible. According to initial media reports, the demonstrations took place in the automatic pilot a Toyota Prius success on the streets of Las Vegas.

The vehicle is fitted with a laser, cameras, GPS and software equipped with artificial intelligence. Obstacles, pedestrians and red lights can thus be identified and entered addresses can be controlled independently. The goal of the Google project is to shorten travel times and in the future to avoid accidents and traffic jams. As well as aid the visually impaired to become more independent.

However, the robot cars are not currently unmanned on the road. At the moment there are two drivers-one at the wheel and one on the passenger seat required, which can slow down the futuristic vehicle in an emergency, and manually controlled.

critics believe it will take at lease three to five years for these cars to go onto the market
In addition to the Toyota Prius, you can watch tests of a self-propelled Audi TT and a Lexus. It is believed it will take another 3-5 years for these cars to be open on the market. However, already several other U.S. states such as California, Florida and Hawaai have an interest in the autopilot car.

Sales

New facelift and Models for the BMW X1

The BMW X1 will receive a facelift, the German company have taken the opportunity to enhance the range, with the appearance of a cheaper model, and a new high-end version.

Outside of the vehicle, the changes are minor. The headlights are new, that is if you decide to choose the Xenon headlights (which are optional), they will be surrounded by LED, rivaling with Audi’s fleet which offer LED headlights on all models. The fog lights have also been slightly modified. BMW has used a lot less black plastic on the under body, which is refreshing to see as this was never a hit with critics. New colours are also available, and a greater choice of alloy wheels.

Inside, the new BMW X1 is equipped with a new centre console, which is driver-oriented. The finishes are a notch above the current model.

Two new models will be introduced: the XLine, with a muscular version of bumpers and side skirts of a higher dimension, plus a silver grille and topped off with 18 inch alloy wheels. Inside, we find a sports leather steering wheel, matching the color chosen.

The second model is the Sport. Also a muscular version, but with a black grille and exhaust outlets in black chrome. The interior is also black, accented with touches of red, which sets the tone.

The entry-level, we find in the rear-wheel drive SE sDrive18d (or four-wheel driveversion), equipped with the 2.0 liter diesel 141 horsepower. At the top of the range, the xDrive25d features a 2.0 liter turbodiesel 214 hp (540 Nm of torque) replaces the 202 horsepower vehicle.
