Sixt support local firefighting swimmers
Sixt rent a car in Croydon have pledged their support to local Croydon firefighters, by donating a Sixt minibus for use during their next charity challenge.
The fund raising team are travelling to Scotland with their support team to swim Loch Ness and raise as much money as possible for the Garwood Foundation and Rutherford School – an Independent Day School in South Croydon for 25 children, aged 2 – 12 years, who have profound and multiple learning difficulties, associated physical disabilities and complex medical needs.

The five London firefighters have taken part in many extreme challenges in support of local charities and between them have swum the channel, completed bike rides to Africa, across Europe and even have ‘London’s Fittest Firefighter’ amongst their team – Luke Sedge. Their most recent adventure was to complete the Three Peaks Challenge, but on Friday 4 September they are hoping to add the tough 24 mile swim across Loch Ness to that list.
With the water expected to be a chilly 8 degrees, the team are still hoping to complete the swim in around 10 – 12 hours. Due to the depth and temperature of the water, swimming in Loch Ness is not recommended and should only be attempted by experienced open-water swimmers. Sixt UK may have taken sport to their hearts themselves recently, attempting various runs for charity, but whatever time the guys set – this is certainly one challenge that Sixt UK will not step up to try and beat!
Sixt UK wish the team the best of luck and if you would like to make a donation of any amount at all, you can do so by visiting http://www.justgiving.com/andrewhanlon1
