‘Superjumbo’ Lands at Manchester Airport
The Airbus A380, the largest passenger airliner in the world, is set to touch down just after lunchtime at Manchester Airport today. The double-decked, 517 seat aeroplane has been in commercial operation since 2007 and is set to begin daily flights to Manchester Airport from Dubai with Emirates.
Manchester Airport itself has made a considerable investment of £10 million over the last 18 months to ensure that the airfield is appropriately upgraded to accommodate the huge plane.
It’s all well and good describing something as ‘huge’ and ‘big’ but without a sense of scale it can sometimes be hard to quantify how large the plane is. I’ve spent the last few hours compiling a few figures and diagrams to illustrate the size of the plane in terms of something we understand very well at Sixt Rent a Car, vehicle sizes.
