Travel disruption forecast for next week

In the last few weeks of 2016 industrial action was called for across a number of sectors and it has been confirmed that many of these disputes have not been resolved. As a result there may be some travel disruption as there are planned strikes next week.

Strikes planned for next week

With train strikes at Southern planned on the 10th, 11th and 13th of January, travellers across the Southeast will likely be affected. The rail company has confirmed it will not be operating any of its train services on these days and will instead be offering replacement coaches and buses for essential travel.

It is not just rail service that will be disrupted, however, as air travel is also going to have a difficult week. The Gatwick Express will be running a limited service and British Airways cabin staff are due to hold a 48 hour strike on January 10th, which will likely cause delays and cancellations to some flights.

Opt for car hire to escape the crowds

If you are worried about how to ensure you don’t miss an important event during these strikes, think about opting for a  one-way car rental. The flexibility of a one-way rental means that no matter your plans you can get from A to B without mishap. We also have incredible deals on our regular return rentals, with models from top brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar available at incredibly discounted prices.

Get 2017 off to a good start and don’t miss a thing due to travel woes; take advantage of Sixt’s premium rental deals and hit the road in style.
