Premiership title race hotting up for busy Christmas periodIt may only be December but the race for the top spot in the Premier League is already in full motion as we enter what promises to be a tasty festive feast of football during the coming weeks.

Title holders Manchester United have pulled themselves level on points with Chelsea, who currently sit at the top of the table, after a convincing 3-0 victory over Wolves last night. But the Londoners will be doing their best to establish some daylight as they face bottom of the table Portsmouth at Stamford Bridge tonight.

Hot on the heels of Manchester United and Chelsea are Aston Villa and Arsenal in third and forth place respectively.

Tonight also sees a clash between two of the teams looking to break into the top four as Manchester City travel to London to face a Tottenham side that haven’t won since thrashing Wigan 9-1 almost four weeks ago.

The top two will both face London opposition this weekend with Chelsea taking on West Ham in a local derby on Sunday by which time Manchester United could already be top of the table if they defeat Fulham on Saturday.
