The Cat Empire are taking a trip to Leeds in July for a gig at the O2 Academy.

Australian chart-toppers The Cat Empire are coming to Leeds next month, which could lead travellers to make use of the city’s car hire offerings.

crowd The Cat Empire to play Leeds in JulyThe band released new album Live on Earth in February and will be playing at the O2 Academy on July 9th.

Hitting the mainstream with a self-named album in 2003, the group hit double platinum in 2005 after Sly received strong airplay.

In 2006, The Cat Empire performed at the opening ceremony of The Commonwealth Games, the 21st century’s third most-watched TV sports event.

The group’s third album, So Many Nights, was released last year in conjunction with producer John Porter.

Felix Riebl, bandleader, says this title refers to the way the material was chosen, as representing the point where it is difficult to tell what is real and dreamed apart.

He states: “They’re little vignettes from our travels, stories that got etched out in the back of a tour bus over the years.”

The band is comprised of Jumps, Ryan, Felix, Will, Harry and Ollie.
