Car stickers linked to road rage in drivers
Want to avoid an ear bashing from a fellow road user? Then avoid cars covered in stickers and filled with ornaments and trinkets.
Car hire users may want to steer clear of vehicles filled with ornaments and stickers, new study has suggested.
Research in the US has claimed that motorists with these trinkets hanging from rear-view mirrors or stuck to their bumper may be more prone to road rage.
The Colorado State University study suggested that drivers with these are marking their territory and are more likely to “act territorially” on the road.
Luckily for London car hire users, research by swiftcover.com has found that only three per cent of UK motorists have car stickers on their vehicle.
However, the study did find that 13 per cent of respondents have some form of ornament hanging from their rear-view mirror.
Tina Shortle, marketing director for swiftcover.com, said: “We have found no evidence of increased claims involving cars with stickers and ornaments – but perhaps that’s because our customers are keeping away from drivers with furry dice!”
Motorists can share incidents of road rage through the Report Road Rage website.
