Over the last few years the Italian police have added some new high-speed cars to their fleet. The two Lamborghini Gallardo sports cars are used as pursuit vehicles and are sometimes used for displays and talks on road safety at job fairs and recruitment drives.

Sadly the fleet has now been reduced by one after an accident at a student jobs fair, just near the northern Italian town of Cremona. The car, valued at close to £140,000, is reported to have swerved to avoid a collision with another vehicle and crashed into two stationary cars. The two police officers in the car managed to avoid serious injury with one driver suffering from a broken rib and the other a few bruises.

Lamborghini gave the two cars to the police force to chase down speeding criminals and also to deliver organs for urgently-needed operations and come equipped with a defibrillator and a fridge to transport any donor organs that are required.
