Learners ‘banned’ from Swindon street

Learner Plate
Residents of a street in Swindon have put up a sign banning learner drivers.
Locals of Churchwood Avenue took the action after becoming annoyed with the number of these motorists using the area to practice.
The residents have put up a sign which features a red L with a line through it, users of car hire in the area may be interested to hear.
Gladys Sims, who lives in the street in question, told thisiswiltshire.co.uk: “It’s a nightmare. They come down here at all hours of the day and at the weekend and it can be really terrible.”
She added that the situation is particularly dangerous at night as “you can’t see them until you’re right on top of them”.
This comes shortly after residents of Winslade Park in Devon launched a campaign to ban learners after claiming that it is used by more than 100 driving schools, 12 hours each day, seven days a week.
