Listening to the game could end up in driving misery
Football fans could see their drive end in disaster.
People supporting their team while on their travels should be careful as it may end up in a crash, new research finds.
A report from the University of Leicester and esure car insurance found the pace of the game and goal scoring can be a big distraction to fans, with more than a quarter of drivers listening to sport on their car radio.
Testing showed that football fans had big changes in speed when they listened to the game on the radio and were more likely to tailgate.
As matches got more exciting the drivers in the study seemed to respond by speeding up and overtaking other cars.
Professor Michael Pont, from the University of Leicester, said: “The results we obtained suggest that, particularly during high-pressure situations within the games, there was a very marked impact on the behaviour of the subjects in this study.”
He added that those wanting to stay safe while on the road should get someone else to drive if it is an important match.
People wanting to drive more safely may want to heed comments from Hugh Bladon, founding member of the Association of British Drivers, who said that texting while driving is “beyond comprehension”.
If you’re renting a car form Sixt remember to concentrate fully on the road!

Texting while driving during a sporting event on the radio is not the only source of distraction for drivers. Texting while driving whenever driving can cause major accidents to occur. According to a source listed on newsy.com, texting while driving can slow your reaction time MORE so than alcohol. http://www.newsy.com/videos/texting_and_driving_your_right_or_a_new_way_to_crash
