He may not yet be able to use car hire in London, but Arthur Torrin has passed his private pilot’s licence.

The 17 year old has not yet sat his driving test, but he can take to the skies, reports iomtoday.co.uk.

He took just 26 days to pass the test, after giving flying a go while on a trip to the US.

The teenager’s mother, Diane, told the news provider: “I couldn’t believe it, he just took to it straight away. He can fly a plane and he’s not yet learnt to drive a car!”

She commented to the source that an instructor noted that the 17 year old was one of the easiest students he had ever had in terms of picking up the skills needed for flying.

He has since taken his first solo flight in a Cessna 150 and is keen to pursue a career in aviation, the website reported.

Meanwhile, teenagers learning to drive in Devon caused problems for users of car hire in one estate, after it was revealed that the area is used 12 hours a day, seven days a week by driving schools.
