Watford Gap celebrates anniversary with musical
Watford Gap service station is the focus of a new BBC Northampton musical film, which comes as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the travel stop.

Watford Gap services is the focus of the film which is being screened today as part of the facility’s 50th anniversary.
The service station, which is located on the M1, was the first rest area of its kind in the UK when it opened on November 2nd 1959.
Since then it has been used by millions of motorists, with thousands frequenting it every day.
To honour the rest stop’s long history, BBC Northampton has produced a musical film which focuses on the memories of people that have used Watford Gap in the last 50 years.
The film will be screened at the service station today (November 2nd) to mark the anniversary.
Car hire users looking for a more traditional night at the movies could instead drive to one of London’s many cinemas where films such as Fantastic Mr Fox and This Is It are now showing.
