Ian Lawrence, Sixt UK's MD, takes the keys to the first all electrically powered car at our Fulham / Chelsea branch

Time for an update on what has been going on over the last few weeks at Sixt’s UK headquarters. We’ve been working on quite a few things recently, from visiting London learning about future technologies in marketing to preparing new branches and new services for everyone that hires with Sixt.

Earlier this week we had the pleasure of announcing our introduction to the world of zero emission driving, with our Fulham and Chelsea car hire branch being our central hub for all things electric. The Citroen C1 Ev’ies have been provided by the Electric Car Corporation and we hope that everyone looking for more environmentally friendly car hire gives the Ev’ie a try.

Several of our staff went down to the Technology for Marketing & Advertising expo at Earl’s Court to attend seminars and keynote speeches about implementing new technologies into business. The whole event was extremely well organised and many of the contributors provided us with excellent ideas and concepts to expand our services for the benefit of our customers.

We have also been busy in two major airports in Europe, with a branch opening at Barcelona airport near to the recently opened Terminal 1 building. By moving closer to the airport we’re making collections and returns far more convenient for our customers and Macarena and the rest of the team are looking forwards to settling into their new surroundings.

And, maintaining the airport news, we are set to open desks in terminal at our Heathrow Airport car hire branch. We have been looking forward to opening our desks and providing our customers with exemplary service from inside the 4 major terminals and hope that our official opening on the 19^th March goes smoothly.

The coveted BRIT award

Now the BRITs is a spectacular annual event that is broadcast on terrestrial TV with many of the nominees performing live for the audience that gathers at Earl’s Court just near to our Fulham / Chelsea car hire branch. This year is no exception, with Lady GaGa, Kasabian, Cheryl Cole and Florence and the Machine all set to provide the entertainment for the crowds at the event whilst Bolton’s own Peter Kay will be hosting the show.

Throughout the event’s history there have been many memorable moments, from Jarvis Cocker storming the stage in protest of Michael Jackson’s performance of “Earth Song” in 1996 to Mick Fleetwood and Sam Fox’s notoriously cringeworthy presenting in 1989, but now the evening generally goes without a hitch.

The awards will be broadcast live (although sometimes they do this with a slight delay, just in case someone swears or does something not fit for broadcast) on ITV on Feb 16^th.
