Archaeological Museum in Alicante

The Provincial Archaeological Museum has collections of archaeology that range from the Palaeolithic to the Contemporary Modern Culture, taking a trip back in time through the history of Alicante. With modern audiovisual displays, the innovative museum is sure to keen you entertained.

The museum of the University of Alicante can be found at the campus of the university in San Vicente del Raspeig. Its purpose isn’t just to accommodate exhibitions, it is a place for diverse culture where you can enjoy music, theatre, cinema, photography and art. During the months of January and February you can visit the exhibition of “Retorno a los orígines” [Return to the origins] by Elvira Pinzano in the room ´Altamira`and the exhibition of “De un mundo a otro” [From one world to another], a collection of twenty-five images from the photographer François Poirier, a tribute to pregnant women.

Escuelas de otros mundos

Alicante also has a number guest exhibitions, for example; from January until the beginning of March there will be an exhibition of photographs from the collection “Escuelas de otros mundos” [Schools from other worlds] by Kim Manresa, the exhibition will be open 7 days a week and entry is free.

In the cultural centre La Salle, you will find a diverse range of exhibitions that take place on the first Thursday of every month, they organise gastronomy every third Thursday of the month and there is a reading club every third Friday.

In the gardens of the Provincial Palace of Alicante you will find nine contemporary sculptures made of iron, steel and bronze designed and built by international artists, which you can view until the fourteenth of February. There is also an exhibition called “55 dias en Alicante” [55 days in Alicante], a radiographic of the past and future of China, photographs from a young generation of artists taken in the last decades which will be available to view until the end of January.

The world of music will also be visiting Alicante at the beginning of this new year. During the month of February the musical “Fiebre del Sábado noche” [Saturday Night Fever] will be in Alicante at the Principal Theatre, a show that was originally shown at a variety of West End theatres in London, and from the 12th to the 26th of February, with a total of 16 shows. Lovers of music and dance can enjoy a spectacular show full of diversity accompanied by the music of the Bee Gees, lights, colours, happiness, disappointment, humour and most of all lots of love and hope to fulfil our dreams!
