Car hire users warned about ski insurance
Brits heading on ski breaks this winter have been warned to safeguard themselves against financial heartache.
Mike Pickard, head of travel insurance for esure, has warned that car hire users heading to the slopes could be left out of pocket if they have an accident.
He said: “It doesn’t matter whether you’re a novice or perfectly at home on the black runs, accidents do happen on the slopes and it’s crucial to make sure you’re fully covered with quality insurance that includes specific winter sports cover.”
Mr Pickard also said that those with cover should also check the small print of their document before setting off.
The insurance firm revealed that a helicopter evacuation from the ski slopes could cost around £1,500.
Last month, the AA called for the closure of a travel insurance loophole which leaves people booking flights and accommodation separately out of pocket should their tour operator go bust.
