london trips to east anglia Car hire users staycationing in East AngliaA travel expert has claimed that East Anglia has been a popular staycation destination so far this year, saying that the region has “broken records” thanks to this high level of interest.

Users of London car hire looking for the perfect staycation in a popular location may want to head to East Anglia.

Richard Carrick, chief executive for Hoseasons, has noted that this region has had its fair share of holidaymakers in recent months.

He said: “East Anglia has broken records – we’ve had an enormous amount of demand for not only cottages and holiday parks but also for boats.”

Mr Carrick added that Scotland has also been a popular choice thanks to it enjoying some great weather.

Yorkshire is also noted by the expert as having enjoyed a recent tourism spike.

He claimed that people are “hunkering down” and “going back to basics” during the recession, which could involve London car hire users taking staycations rather than trips abroad.

Recent figures released by VisitEngland have shown that trips within England by UK residents are up by 14 per cent in the first half of 2009.
