Holidaymakers ‘increasingly travelling within the UK’
The credit crunch is leading more people to spend their holidays travelling in the UK, which could interest those looking at car hire for their seaside break.
People are increasingly looking to explore the UK on their holidays and could hire cars to do so, an expert suggests.

More Brits are hiring cars and holidaying in the UK
Ian Bradley, spokesperson for the Association of Independent Tour Operators, claims that Brits are becoming more willing to appreciate what they can do on their own doorsteps.
He points to the forecasted good weather and says this could be a factor leading people to choose to take trips domestically.
Mr Bradley says predictions that the credit crunch is going to cut the number of people travelling abroad are overstated.
“It’s going to be a strong summer for the British domestic tourism market but I still think it’s going to be okay for overseas as well,” he says.
Recent figures by Travelodge show nearly a third of UK citizens are planning to take a holiday within the country this year, with 40 per cent travelling to the seaside and nearly one in four taking a trip to rural spots, potentially hiring a car in the process.
Great value UK car hire is available from Sixt rent a car.
