Summary: Travellers at the high end of the market are set to head to boutiques in Europe because of the currency fluctuations, although many people are keen to stay in the UK.
Luxury travellers are not being hit by the currency fluctuations brought on by the economic downturn.
According to Chris Gallon, show director at The Luxury Travel Fair, the weaker pound is only affecting the travel plans of lower-income holidaymakers.
He said: “For luxury travellers, they are not so affected by changes in currency. They will go to Europe but the difference is that they might be looking for boutique hotels or hotels with a difference.”
However, Mr Gallon added that there is a “big market” for people looking to stay in the UK for breaks.
Those seeking to combine the two can find plenty of luxury in London.
Tourists with London car hire could sample some of the city’s many renowned eateries, such as Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant at Claridge’s.
Holidaymakers looking for luxury in the capital may well find it by booking into one of the city’s five-star hotels.
The Ritz, the 41 and Swissotel The Howard are among the top hotels that holidaymakers can rest their heads in during a break in London.
