Car hire users looking for the perfect ski breaks may want to check out the Pyrenees, an expert has suggested.

Chantal Pitin, head of leisure traffic development at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, said that the area enjoyed a lot of snow last year, which could make it perfect for a winter sports break.

She added that it is not just plenty of snow that visitors will be able to enjoy.

Ms Pitin explained: “It’s special because you have snow as well as the sun. We are in the south of France and what is different about the resort is that they are little resorts, family resorts so the atmosphere is very different from the Alps.”

Users of London car hire will be able to easily reach the destination, as chartered flights run to Toulouse from the capital.

Those outside of the city need not worry though, as services are also available from Bristol and Edinburgh.

Recently, Tim Holmes, show manager for the Metro Ski & Snowboard Show, claimed that Britons are unlikely to give up their winter sports holidays, despite the economic downturn.
