Review websites offer ‘up-to-date travel information’

Holidaymakers should use comparison websites when searching for accommodation, according to a source.

Amelie Hurst, spokeswoman for TripAdvisor, said that these offer more up-to-date information than tourist handbooks, those planning a break involving car hire may be interested to hear.

She said that data in these published guides can be as much as 15 months old by the time they go to print.

Ms Hurst compared this to online posts, which can be updated every minute of the day.

She commented: “Reviews are incredibly important for holidaymakers, because travel is about time and money – you can’t afford for it to go wrong.”

The expert also said that travel companies are aware of the importance of these websites and review the feedback on them, those looking for Munich car hire may be interested to learn.

Recently, a study by Thomson and First Choice found that 80 per cent of people trust reviews that they read on the internet.
