My boss pointed me in the direction of a site that he discovered over the weekend this morning and I’ve only just about had enough time to take a look at it. The site covers places in London that have been involved with or filmed as part of famous movies throughout history.

For a cinephile like myself this is a fantastic little site, especially considering I do take occasional trips down to the City to visit some of our London car hire branches. Now I can take a trip round London and visit some of the more famous movie locations thanks to http://www.movielondon.net/.

movielondon The Movie Tour of LondonMovie London is an interactive map showing off nearly 200 locations throughout the heart of London where some of the most famous and influential movies have been filmed. There are some great little pieces of trivia to gain from the site such as the record store from A Clockwork Orange is now a branch of McDonald’s and that the Royal Horticultural Halls have featured in no less than 5 films including an appearance as Berlin Airport in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

It would be great to be able to browse the site via a mobile device so you could simply access it as you walk around London, but it is currently using Flash to display the map and information leaving the majority of smartphone users unable to view the site as they tour around. At the moment only people with jailbroken iPhones, phones running Android 2.2 and Samsung Bada would be able to view the site as they walk around the UK’s capital.
