UK visitor spending ‘remains strong’
A travel professional has commented that despite a dip in the number of trips to the UK from overseas visitors, spending from this market has “remained strong”.
Spending from overseas visitors coming to the UK has “remained strong”, it has been asserted.
A spokeswoman from UKinbound said that this is the case despite a fall in overall trips to Britain from abroad in the first six months of the year.
However, she revealed that spending increased by one per cent in this period, which could include the money spent by those booking car hire in London while they are in the city.
The representative explained: “This has mainly been because of the sharp drop in business travellers and due to the strength in the leisure market, with holiday visits rising by four per cent.”
She added that the US, France, Germany and Spain are some of the main markets when it comes to UK tourism.
The spokeswoman also said that the change in visa regulations for Taiwanese citizens has resulted in a rise in holidaymakers from this country coming to Britain, which could lead to a spike in demand for services such as car hire.
These comments come after the Office for National Statistics recently revealed that visits to the UK by overseas consumers increased by three per cent in June to August when compared with the previous three months.
